Carey Baptist Grammar School
Centre for Learning and Innovation
KPA Concrete, in conjunction with ADCO Construction, has completed the Centre for Learning and Innovation for Carey Baptist Grammar School on their Kew campus.
This world class educational facility project comprised of both the demolition of the existing east wing of the school and the construction of a new 3-storey building. This new building will accommodate classrooms, contemporary learning facilities and a new library.
The project was constructed on grade, with the new building integrated with the existing sports oval at ground level.
Renown architects Hayball designed this development. It features a high level of design aesthetic incorporating the latest in activity based learning technologies. The new library has dedicated spaces for social gathering, group study, research, quiet reading and individual reflection.
A cantilevered slab on the top level accommodates the United Nations room and incorporates state-of-the-art audio visual equipment; Cabinet Rooms and a Sky Deck to access sweeping views of Melbourne.
The facility incorporates the latest in environmentally sustainable design initiatives. It has also achieved a 4-star Green Star certification with the Green Building Council of Australia.
The completed development redefines the heart of the Kew campus by providing new connections with the existing Quadrangle and School Chapel – the historical social and spiritual centres of the school.
